Description: The problems, addressed by this proposal are connected with the negative fact that the people living in the Bulgarian-Serbian border area are still unable to benefit from the physical and cultural closeness of the two nations. Throughout Europe the unofficial borders have long ago switched from being national to being regional, encompassing areas with similarities – economic, social and cultural – which often include a multi-national population. Great benefits for this population are achieved on the basis of synergies, collaboration and proper use of available regional resources. This however is not the case with the border areas of Bulgaria and Serbia, which still remain “distant” from one another and not enjoying the benefits to being close to another nation, market, culture. Cultural integration and intensified inter-cultural dialogue have been recognized by the EU as one of the best ways to forge partnerships and friendships of the kind, which brings also economic and social benefits to entire communities. This is therefore the purpose of the present proposal – to support and intensification of inter-cultural dialogue and cross-border cultural appreciation based on thorough understanding. The project strategy is as follows: - Created opportunities for groups with different age, skills and experiences to get involved in the project. Their participation in the project will create the grounds for the establishment of serious contacts and joint initiatives between the members of the target groups from the partner regions. - The Bulgarian and Serbian partner will have the opportunity to develop new forms of cultural cooperation on the territories of the municipalities of Vidin and Knjajevac will acquire experience in cross-border cultural exchanges - The proposed activities will allow the partners to establish long-term relations and conditions for collaboration in the cultural sphere. The cultural exchange among them will increase the quality of life on the two sides of the border - Experts from the two sides of the border explored the role of historical heritage and cultural tradition in relation with development of joint cultural events and projects ; - Conducted numerous cultural events and activities – exchange visits, holidays celebrations, cultural exchange round table,
