Energy Efficient Schools-Our children deserve it

Project ID: 2007CB16IPO006-2011-2-078
Acronym: EES_MC_FME
Project title: Energy Efficient Schools-Our children deserve it
Call: 2007CB16IPO006-2011-2
Priority axis: Priority Axis 2
Action: 2.2 Sustainable development through efficient utilization of regional resources
Budget: 133932.95 €
EU co-financing: 113843.00 €
Start date: 18.12.2013
End date: 18.12.2014
Status: In implementation
Description: The project strategy rests on the fact that majority of schools in cross border region are relatively old and were built according to codes that are outdated, so there are tremendous possibilities for increasing energy efficiency and reducing GHG emissions. Also, decision makers (directors and local authorities), although aware in most cases of importance of described topics, lack tools and information to evaluate the potentials of certain energy efficiency measures. Other target groups, like pupils, teachers and other users of schools do not have the mechanisms to institutionally solve the accumulated problems, but their awareness for the described topics could be raised to higher level. Survey among pupils will be carried out in order to determine current level of awareness for energy efficiency and environmental protection, and after this data is processed the focus will be on topics where they lack information to emphasize them on workshops through some examples. This is one direction of the project oriented towards pupils. Another direction of the project is orientated to decision makers. Energy consumption data analysis for most of school objects will be carried out in order to have some benchmark values. With the direct contact with school directors information on current state of the objects and possible improvements will give the feedback on their level of awareness for these topics. Based on the gathered data, software tools for benefits evaluation will be developed incorporating all of the identified energy efficiency measures for school objects. This tool will be in accordance with adequate Serbian legislation on energy efficiency in buildings, free and user friendly.
